Terms and Conditions
We have a series of terms that each student must sign before we can train them, One part of that is to protect our business and stop our methods been sold on, reproduced etc.

We will not train anyone that does not sign our terms and conditions.
Criminal Record
We can't train people with criminal convictions but you can still apply. We need to fill out an online form that the Guild of Master Locksmiths UK will use with UKVS UK Vetting Service inline with House of Commons for national security. In some cases they can refuse a application based on convocations for abuse, theft, knife crime, weapons and so on.

However its unlikely a drunk and disorderly conviction would count again you but it depends on the crime and if its spent or unspent.
Why do you only take 4 students each term?
That is only on our locksmith courses that included the business training. Its simply down to time and how long it takes to setup a business. As you can imagine, setting up 4 full operational and successful businesses each term is hard work and take almost an entire year.

We are also very selective on who we take on to the business course programs. We will only take on students that are guaranteed to become successful through there own drive and passion.
We can't risk our reputation on someone that will fail, who will not try.
Do you take funded applications?
Yes and no. It depends on the student. For us money comes second, first comes our reputation. We could take many funded applications if it was all about the money but its not. Its about quality!

This is why we do not always allow funded applicants into the program unless they can show us that they will see the training through. We find funded applicants don't have the same level of interest as people who are self funding.

They can be passive and not as driven as people who have had to work hard and save the money! Its really that simple. We like our students to be hungry and want to succeed.
How hands on are the courses
Its 100% hands on, yes it has a light theory to explain what we will be doing. We may watch a video on the subject first to give you instructions or a better understanding for what we will be doing. But its all hands on.

You will be hands on all tools from technical tools like lock picks to wood working tools. You will be fitting, removing locks and hardware, gaining entry to failed locks and hardware to gaining entry to high security locks and hardware.

You will have to ware protection such as glasses and face masks when cutting wood, ear defenders, gloves etc.

You should bring work clothing that you will work in, this things like work pants, boots or footwear, work tops like polo shirts etc.

However Newquay can be very hot in the summer months so also bring summer clothing or dress for the season. The lock lab is a warm facility.
